I don't care about page views!

Journal Entry: Tue Feb 17, 2009, 1:15 AM
(..if you'll visit my page more often!)

If we all decided to abolish our pageviews and ignore popularity here at deviantart, pushing the popular artists from their pedestal and raising the under-appreciated ones to where the popular artists landed, because there wouldn't be discrimination about what to look at or read based on what's popular anymore (seeing as nobody would have pageviews, thus making everyone equal,) I'd have a good chance at getting more attention than I have now, right?

Right?

On a related note, I've turned on the "pageviews suck" option to make a desperate statement that talent does not always go hand in hand with popularity. I only hope that talent can be found without it. Which is what I was hoping to achieve with this change. (Assuming that the talent in question is mine--and being the narcissistic bastard that I am, I do.)

Mostly though, it distracts me from wishing people would read my work. But, ironically, it puts emphasis on how little comments I have that are also proof of how few people read my work. Oh well. Bitch, bitch, bitch. That's all I really do.

P.S: Is it completely perverse of me to have thought all this time that the 'lazy' mood (below) was an emoticon of one smiley face going down on another one and that it wasn't just an obese smiley face sleeping on a chair? Because I did just until now.
  • Mood: Lazy
  • Listening to: My whiney bitch of a furnace squeal and groan
  • Drinking: Coke

Planted somewhere just a few miles east of the Rocky Mountains, I attend a relatively unknown university seeking a degree in English with which I have optimism (that I hope isn't ill-placed) that I will somehow, be it through various tiny royalties from as many publications as I can muster or a just novel I've yet to write and the hopeful income to follow, end up with the means to procure a domicile that will grant me access to indoor plumbing, heat, electricity, a regular supply of food, and the ability to write for a living.

That said, I would be willing to sacrifice the luxurious details if I could still eat regularly and write as often as I would like.
